Fishing in the Reisa River

The Reisa River (or Reisaelva in Norwegian) is 120 km long and originates in Finnmark. The salmon go 85 km up to the Imofossen waterfall. There are 19 zones containing good fishing spots, with a large number of deep pools for fly-fishing.

 
The Reisa River has a reputation for big salmon and whoppers are caught annually here weighing around 20 kg. So if you are looking to set a record, the Reisa River may be the right river.


Each autumn, large stocks of sea trout migrate up the river. The river has fantastic fly-fishing rapids and deep pools. We transport our guests by riverboat into the national park for exciting fishing for big salmon in majestic nature.


Our guides have considerable salmon fishing experience and will gladly show our guests where the salmon.

Season: July 1-August 20

The river comprises 19 zones and stretches right up to the Imofossen waterfall, which is approx. 90 km from the sea.

You can only reach the upper zones by riverboat.

Please be aware that our website features photos of salmon caught before the current regulations protecting female salmon of over 5kg were introduced.

 

 

Arctic char

Arctic char are currently protected in the Reisa River, so fishing for Arctic char is not permitted.

 

Sea trout

Season: August - September
The average weight is 1 kg, but we often catch sea trout weighing 2-3 kg.

 

 

Trout

Common brown trout are found in the river. Although the stocks of char are much larger, it is also possible to catch good, large trout. In the upper reaches of the river, catches of brown trout weighing 2-4 kg are common.
